Josephine Somerville

Josephine Somerville is a dynamic, expressive circus artist specializing in bar aerials and German wheel. They enjoy finding new, unexpected and dynamic movements on any apparatus and are particularly drawn to circles.

Josephine started taking circus classes as a teen and quickly was spending all of their free time in the air or rolling around in a wheel. After graduating from college with a BS in Neuroscience, Josephine completed the New England Center for Circus Arts ProTrack Program in 2023. They have since performed in tents and theaters across the US and Europe and has taught workshops in the Netherlands, Belgium and New England. Josephine also recently completed a circus rigging course at the Stockholm University for the Arts. When not off touring and exploring the world, Josephine loves coming home to NECCA to their knowledge and experience with students. As a coach, Josephine aims to help students find ease and joy in movement and achieve their goals. When not upside down, Josephine can be found baking vegan treats, befriending cats, or gallivanting through the forest.
