Chinese Pole: Dynamic Movement

Bring your sweat shirts and elbow pads and lets get dropping and twisting!

We’ll review progressions and drills for those skills you’ve been excited to try, but didn’t know how to safetly progress through them.

Prerequisites:
Students should have a regular Chinese pole practice, be able to invert in the air, and do dynamic ‘jump’ climbs, and do full and half ball slides.

What to Wear:
Please dress in layers that include stretchy jeans with leggings underneath, a belt without a metal buckle to keep them from falling down (a shoe lace works in a pinch), and a long-sleeve shirt with a tight base layer underneath. Layers are your friend. Please bring smooth-soled shoes. We suggest ASICS “Snapdown” wrestling shoes (preferred) or Feiyue martial arts shoes, both available online. Please bring elbow pads if you have them!

About the Coach

Brooke Locke grew up on stage as a dancer then found circus, graduating from the ProTrack program in 2020, specializing in Chinese pole. Since then she has gone on to travel the world performing with the 7 Fingers in Duel Reality on Virgin Voyages, and with Cirque du Soleil’s Ovo.

Continuing to keep Vermont as her home base, Brooke often returns to NECCA, to share her passion for circus as a coach.
