Our Areas of Focus & Impact

Contribution to American Circus

NECCA is an incubator for the next generation of circus performers in the U.S., excels as a leader in teaching circus arts instructors, and innovates dynamic curriculum. Since professional training began at NECCA, 220 graduates have gone on to perform for Cirque du Soleil, Aida cruise lines, 7 Fingers of the Hand and more. They have also gone on to teach, direct and create all over the nation.

  • Circus professionals teach here. 60+ professional circus artists train and teach our students.
  • Circus professionals are born here. 35+ ProTrack students study and graduate as working professionals.
  • Professional Artists hone their craft and create work here. Over 300 Circus Artists from around the world come to NECCA to train, learn and create each year.
Health & Wellness

Participation in circus arts at any level helps everyone to develop physical and mental longevity and resilience while creating community.

  • 984 adults are empowered to stay flexible and get stronger while having fun in over 1,000 classes and workshops.
  • 674 young people learn lifelong circus skills while having fun and working together.
  • Our teachers continue their education to learn how to work with bodies of all ages, levels and abilities so that NECCA is everybody’s home for the circus.

NECCA has played a critical role in the Southern Vermont economy and community for over 15 years, and our teaching expands across the globe. Instructors who train with us open circus studios and our alumni create their own circus companies all over the world.

  • NECCA is a destination that impacts Brattleboro and the region, bringing over 100 students who live, work and train from a weekend up to three years.
  • NECCA is home for 2,706 of students, over 30 guest artists and 2649 audience members flock to our area annually for classes and shows.
  • NECCA employs 9 full time and 80 part time staff over the course of a year.
Youth Development

Committed to the health and joy of our local community, our youth and teen programs are focused on developing confidence, exploration, inclusion, problem solving, collaboration, healthy habits, and a sense of belonging from caring adults.

  •  674 youth have moved and connected in over 396 classes, and 15 weeks of in-person camps and outreach.
  • Youth learn who they are, the value of problem solving, and how to work with others in 14 performances throughout the year.
