Fast Track to Chinese Pole
With Nick Strange
Chinese pole is having a renaissance in the circus world and can now be found in many of the most popular circuses in the world. This workshop is geared towards students who are new (or new-ish) to Chinese pole, but have experience with other circus arts, dance pole, another movement-based discipline, or even just strength-based conditioning.
We’ll explore Chinese pole starting from the ground up, and work towards a strong base in fundamental skills including various climbs, static holds, slides, and dynamic tricks. We will also work on sequencing tricks and helping students emphasize their own creative style on pole.

About The Coach
Nicholas Strange is a circus artist and a mechanical engineer. He is also the Technical Director, head rigger, and pole coach for Air Temple Arts, in Connecticut. He got his start with circus in the early 2000s performing unicycling, juggling, side show, and fire spinning before discovering Chinese pole.
He has been lucky enough to learn from a wide variety of coaches, including having the opportunity to study under Sandra Fusi at NECCA. With over a decade of pole coaching experience, he was one of the first people to provide Chinese pole instruction at a recreational level, and has had a major hand in popularizing the apparatus in New England.
His students have gone on to become coaches themselves, as well as to perform with 7Fingers, Cirque de Soleil, and beyond. Nick is passionate about expanding the world of Chinese pole and strives to make this difficult art form accessible to students of all backgrounds.
