Weekend Immersion: Trapeze

About this Immersion

Join us for a weekend of exploration and technique with one of our favorite trapeze coaches! This classic apparatus offers so many things—bar work, vertical space, rolling, turning and beating. We’ll experiment, play, and create through guided investigations to refine your trapeze technique while developing new skills and learning inventive sequences and pathways.

Saturday: 12 – 3 pm & 4 – 6:30 pm
Sunday: 10 am – 1 pm & 2 – 4:30 pm

This workshop is designed for intermediate and advanced trapeze practitioners who have a current and regular trapeze practice and are comfortable moving onto and around the trapeze. Students must be able to do ankle hang beats, one-knee hangs, front balance with no hands, and invert comfortably in the ropes.

Megan Gendell has been trapezing since 2006 and has performed circus professionally since 2007, including at the Chicago Contemporary Circus Festival, the Golden Karl international circus festival in Latvia, and the Daidogei World Cup in Japan, as well as with ensembles including LAVA, Alter Circus, Big Teeth, and Acrobatic Conundrum. She is a 2012 graduate of NECCA’s ProTrack program and a Nimble Arts-trained trapeze teacher. Megan is a constant researcher and creator in the air, and while she loves to share her work on Instagram (@megan.gendell), she likes sharing it in person even more.
