NECCA has a team of nearly 50 instructors who have backgrounds that range from Cirque du Soleil to Circus of the Kids and back again. During each activity you will have a hand picked group of teachers who specialize in the circus skills featured in each circus experience.

You will have three opportunities to try circus skills during the retreat. During each session you’ll have a few options to pick from in case something isn’t your speed. While we do encourage people to try everything at least once there will be options so you can customize this experience to your needs. For example, if you are not excited about heights, there will always be low to the ground or ground based options.

On our first morning we’ll start with a warm up on the aerial yoga slings, then move into rotations that might include low trapeze, aerial fabric, low tight wire and more. In the afternoon we’ll focus on ground based activities including acroyoga, juggling and flow arts. On Sunday morning we’ll start the day with ‘student choice’ which can include aerials or ground skills.

The flying trapeze is the culminating experience in your Run Away and Join the Circus retreat adventure. Yes, it might seem a little daunting, but don’t worry, we’ll take care of you every step of the way. The flying trapeze is kitted out with a giant net and safety lines, and there will be a team member with you on the ground and in the air. Not sure about this option? Don’t worry, it’s really fun to watch and support your new retreat friends, and you’ll probably change your mind once you see how safe and exciting it is. We find that people who work through their fears to climb the ladder and swing across the net are never the same again!

Setu Vermont is a family-owned wellness retreat that we are excited to collaborate with again. Located just minutes from downtown Brattleboro, but far enough removed to not be disturbed by sound or light pollution you can experience Vermont in all its natural splendors. The indoor space provides guests with rooms decorated with traditional Indian fabrics; a Shala (yoga school) where you can experience morning traditional Ashtanga Yoga, and a breakfast menu offering both Indian and Western options.

You can also enjoy the Nordic Spa hot tub, the Yoga and Meditation Library, perennial gardens, bonfires in the fire pit, nature walks, and stargazing from the deck.

Lodging includes options for everyone:

  • Luxury suite is a spacious dorm style area with ensuite bath. Please note, this room is shared with others.
  • Private accommodations vary from a luxury king bed with attached bathroom to a queen room with shared bathroom, and a twin room with shared bathroom. Rooms will be assigned based on first come / first served basis.
  • The Tiny House private features a full size bed and a wonderful deck that gives you privacy and a shared bath located in the retreat center (approx. 50 ft away) plus a private toilet within the tiny house.

Setu Vermont is a family-owned wellness retreat teaching the traditions of Indian medicine, yoga, and meditation. During your stay you can add indulgences that include massage, ayurvedic health consultations, and sound healing. You can book these activities here for Saturday afternoon during your free time.

We will transport you to a theatrical circus experience featuring performers from the stages of national and international circuses. See aerialists spin and acrobats defy gravity in a performance made possible when we transform our studio into a custom circus performing venue just for you.

Brattleboro is a small town with a big impact. In 2023 we were voted “Strongest Town in North America” and was named one of the top ten arts towns with a population under 30,000 in John Villani’s book “100 Best Art Towns in America”. From the rivers to the hiking trails, to the galleries and museums in the downtown area there is something for everyone. Some of our favorite activities include the women-owned business Fire Arts, with a cafe, glass blowing and ceramics all under one roof, or the Brattleboro Museum and Art Gallery, featuring exhibits that rival those of any big city museum.
