2009 Annual Appeal

Dear Friend of NECCA;
Thank you to all of our supporters as we near the completion of our second year as a not-for-profit organization! We have seen a rise in our overall enrollment, opened new programming, and continue to operate our established programs with great success.
However, in these economically difficult times, we have had a dramatic increase in the requests for our Scholarship and Outreach programs for at risk youth and under served communities. Circus is recognized as a dynamic medium for bringing joy, physical challenge, emotional rewards and positive social interaction to children who do not have many opportunities to feel good about themselves. They rely on your generous donations to bring the benefits of circus to them.
NECCA offers a truly unique and exciting outreach opportunity that local organizations value and rely on. NECCA provides:
  • Ongoing classes for developmentally challenged students from the Austine School for the Deaf;
  • Summer camp scholarships for foster children through the Northeastern Family Institute;
    Free after school juggling club at the Boys & Girls Club;
  • Subsidized workshops at local schools as part of the Winter Sports Programs;
  • Partial and full scholarships to 20% of our ongoing students;
  • Free performances by students at not-for-profit organizations including the Thompson House and Gathering Place adult care facilities;

The Annual Campaign goal for 2009-10 is $27,000 and all funds go to the Outreach and Scholarship programs. Please help us reach that goal by making a tax deductible contribution.

With Great Appreciation,

Serenity Smith Forchion, Artistic Director
Elsie Smith, Executive Director

PS We are pleased to announce our receipt of a $1600 matching grant from the Vermont Arts Council to develop a curriculum with the Windham Regional Career Center. The money will fund the creation of a program where teens can receive credit for participating in a circus based curriculum that includes writing, mathematics and science education as well as circus training.

"I had a fabulous experience taking two workshops at NECCA in both fabric and trapeze. NECCA is a professional, creative and beyond challenging experience for contemporary dancers/movers."
