Intensive Training Program - 10 month training program |  | | Improve your circus skill knowledge in a community of students seeking better flexibility, strength and creativity. Students work with a variety of instructors as they study different areas of the circus art. They also have ample studio time to practice the skills learned during these sessions. The program culminates in a performance of acts that will be created during the Spring portion of the program.
The program includes TWO three hour group training class and one semi-private lesson weekly. Students also select three skills classes from our Session class listing. There are three sessions: Fall (Sept-Dec), Winter (Jan-March) and Spring (April-June), and students can change their class selection at the start of each session. Students also have access to Members Only "open studio" format training to practice what they are learning, and a membership to the Outer Limits Gym.

Program Overview Every week the program includes Two 3 hour group training classes One 1 hr semi-private lesson 3 classes from our Session class listing 12-20 hrs of Members Only Open Studio access to the studio Membership at the Outer Limits Fitness Center

Goals of the program: 1. teach how to stretch and strengthen the body for the circus work 2. teach fundamental skills on the floor and in the air 3. introduce int/adv circus skills as each student is ready 4. encourage the creative process, including the creation of two performance pieces during the Spring session
No circus experience is necessary, but some background in movement or performance arts is recommended. Maximum enrollment is 18 students.

Are there scholarships? There are limited work exchange positions available for 25% off the cost of tuition. If you are interested please indicate your interest in this when you send in your application and a Work Exchange application will be sent to you if you are accepted into the program.

What can I expect from the program & what is the weekly schedule? Group training class Mondays & Wednesdays, 9 am-12 pm Semi-private lessons Mondays & Thursdays as scheduled Session skills classes Monday to Thursday, evenings Members Only Open Studio training various hours throughout the week
The group training class starts with a warm up and intensive stretching followed by strength development, creativity workshops, and lessons for building community and partnerships. Act creation work will be added in the Spring session. The semi private lessons included with the program can be arranged with any staff member, in any skill area.
There will be a required orientation meeting on the September starting date. The program will be completed in June, with final performances. There will be one week off for Thanksgiving and for Christmas, as well as a Spring break in February and April. A more exact schedule will be sent with your acceptance information.

What about housing? Lodging is not included in the Intensive Training Program. However, we will do our best to help you get settled in Brattleboro by connecting you to rental agents and to other students looking for roommates. A car will make your time in Brattleboro easier, but all necessary services and stores can be found within 1 mile of the studio. We will send more information about lodging to students who are accepted into the program.

What is the refund/make-up policy? Withdrawing prior to the start of the program: The deposit, less a $25 administrative fee will be refunded before August 1 for a student who agrees to participate in the program, then chooses not to participate. If a student withdraws from the program after August 1 and before the start of the program, no refund on the deposit will be given. Withdrawing for health/medical reasons: After the start of classes a refund due to termination of participation in the program will be accepted for medical reasons only, and must be supported with a copy of a Doctor's note. If termination occurs between the 1st of the month and the 15th of the month, there will be a refund of the payment for that month. If termination occurs between the 16th and the end of the month, there will be no refund for that month's payment. If termination occurs after April 30,, no refund will be given. If payment has been made in full calculation of any refund will be made according to above policy.
Withdrawing for personal reasons, or if you are asked to leave the program: If termination of participation in the program is made for personal reasons there will be no refund (except for any prepayments made in excess of the required monthly payments). Make-up policy: Students will be encouraged to train as often as they wish during open studio times to make up for any lessons missed due to health reasons, or due to weather related cancellations by NECCA.. Students must inform the office about missed lessons for non-health reasons at least two weeks in advance, and will be given permission to miss lessons on a case-by-case basis as decided by the instructors and the school administration. Students should not miss more than 10% of all lessons as it will be detrimental to their overall participation in the program. What else does Brattleboro, VT have to offer? Brattleboro is a small but vibrant town with many venues for visual and performing arts, as well as schools for continuing physical education.
